Sweet Baby Jesus, y’all, we have hit the National Day of trifecta! November 14 is National Family PJ Day, National Pickle Day, AND National Spicy Guacamole Day. Plus! Today is Thursday, my favorite day. Everyone knows all good things come to those who love and trust Thursday. Thursday certainly delivered this week.
Good googly-moogly, where do we start?!
Pajamas all day…Be still my heart. Y’all, everyone from the south knows Belk is the place for southern ladies to do their shopping for all things intimate and kitchen related. Over at Belk, they have the most amazing jammies from Ellen Tracy I have ever had the pleasure of owning. I have several sets of the winter length. Since it’s a tad on the chilly side (read below freezing) today, I may just have to do my writing in one pair then another until I’ve rotated through all my Ellen Tracy jammies today. Soft and warm, my Ellen Tracy jammies are my go-to for lounging about on National Family PJ Day. And how wonderful that this day should come right in the middle of NaNoWriMo.
With a pickle in hand? Who else is in love with dill pickles? Have you seen the new dill pickle juice in a can? I may be from Appalachia, but I’m not sure I’m quite redneck enough to swap out my PBR for a frosty can of dill juice. I’m kidding, or course. PBR is definitely not my drink of choice. Pickle juice, though… Do dill pickle flavor chips count toward pickle consumption on National Pickle Day? Have y’all seen the amount of pickly products out there these days? I was curious and did a little searching this morning and my finds include but are not limited to: pickle flavored nuts, pickle cotton candy, pickle candy canes (uh, eeeww!), pickle popcorn, pickle dip, pickle popsicles, and pickle snow cone syrup. And how many ways can we eat a pickle? Fried, one of my personal favorite salty, fried bar apps of all time, on a sandwich, in a salad. The possibilities are endless, really. Pickles, pickles, pickles! In book one of the suspense romance series I’m working on, and which is currently subbed out awaiting news, one of the main characters, five-year-old Lucy Wayland absolutely adores dill pickles. She’d probably enjoy some of the products I came across this morning.
And last but not least, holy avocadoes! As if jammies and pickles aren’t enough, the National Day of people have blessed us by rounding out today’s trifecta with National Spicy Guacamole Day. Just let me don my gigantic tortilla sombrero and run over to the grocery, in my Ellen Tracys no less, and grab some avocadoes. Avocadoes and guac are something you either love or hate. My lovelies, I am firmly planted in the team guac camp. Bring it on! Oh-me-oh-my, this may actually require a trip to Belk for a few new guac making tools and a new chip and dip set.
And, maybe a new set of Ellen Tracys, just because I can.
Oh! One last great thing about this Thursday, but certainly not the least. Today is my beautiful, generous, kind Mom-in-Law’s birthday. She is fierce and she raised the best man I know, my very own Marine in dusty cammies. Happy birthday, Anna! Love you!
Friends, I bid you a pleasant Thursday. May it treat you well. Have a fantastic jammie wearing, pickle juice drinking, guac eating day.
