Introducing Gavin McIntyre…and a $0.99 Sale

Please welcome today, Gavin McIntyre from Reclaiming Raylyn! Thanks for agreeing to the interview Gav!

So, let’s get started, because the readers really wants to know…

Everything about you! Tell us, where did you grow up? Is that the only place you’ve ever lived or have you moved around? What is it you love about your town?

I grew up in a small town in Western North Carolina. And no, it’s not the only place I’ve ever lived. After joining the Marine Corps straight out of high school, I’ve been traveling ever since and dragging my family along behind me. Currently, we live in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Well, we do. Ray and I. Well. She does most of the time because I’m deployed so much. Right now, though, we’re not even under the same roof even though I just got back. *sigh* It’s complicated. Isn’t that what the kids today say? And I have no idea what I love about it other than that’s where Ray is. I’m not home enough to notice much of anything else.

What’s your current occupation? I’m a Sergeant Major in the United States Marine Corps.

What’s in your refrigerator right now? Basically nothing. Ray didn’t leave much except the salad dressing I like, some of my favorite beer, and seven days’ worth of frozen meals she prepped for me to survive on until I figure my shit out.

What smell do you associate with your childhood? Is it a happy smell? The smell of warm tree pulp and fresh mountain air. I associate that tree pulp smell with hard living and early death from lung disease. We lost dad to it. While his job put food on the table, it’s by no means an easy life. I thought I chosen a better path, but lately I find myself questioning that logic.

What’s a typical Saturday morning like for you? When deployed, it’s catching up on paperwork and trying to scan the web for news from back home. When home, I leave Ray sleeping and go catch breakfast with my buddies.

What is your greatest strength? Weakness? Trying to provide the best life possible for Ray and our kids.

Did you believe in true love before you met Ray? Yes. And I still believe in it although I think she has doubts right now.

Do you have any tattoos? What are they? If you don’t, would you consider getting one and what would it be? Externally, one. It’s a bulldog in a DI hat up high on my shoulder. Internally, Ray’s name is tattooed on my heart.

What is your most treasured possession? My marriage and our family. Although, I seemed to have lost sight of that and am trying every tactic I know to regain ground on that front.

Do you have any regrets? What are they? Plenty.

(Man of few words…)

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I’m in the process of changing plenty, but you’ll have to read our story to find those things out.

Describe the perfect meal. Sunday supper with all the family gathered around our huge table, laughter and hugs. It’s not the kind of food that makes the meal, it’s the love.

Is there anything you’d like to tell me, as your writer? You sure are rough on a guy. Do you put the people in your “real” world through hell?

And, unfortunately, that’s all we have time for! Thanks, Gav, for coming by today!
