Happy fall, y’all! Here in the mountains, fall is definitely in full swing. We’re experiencing lower temperatures and the leaves are in the beginning stages of changing. I’m so excited about both these things because seeing the leaf show each fall just happens to be one of the favorite fall activities, and that’s what today’s WWBC is all about hosted by the great folks over at LASR. Be sure to stop by for a full list of participating bloggers today as well as instructions how to jump in with yourself.
My favorite fall activities are many! Fall is both my and my hubby’s favorite season by far. It’s not too cold, not too hot. It’s just right. The humidity disappears, for the most part, and I love to watch all the little animals that inhabit our area getting ready for winter. Right now, the squirrels are quite active making off with the crab apples from the tree across the lane from us.
I don’t know about y’all, but my cooking habits change in the fall. Fall puts me in the baking mood and right now one of my favorite things to bake is paleo friendly, gluten free banana bread and pumpkin bread. Yum! I also love to make all-day simmering soups, stews, and chili around this time of year.
Autumn is fire pit season. Yippee! We have to be extremely careful with flame up here, obviously, but now that the temps are dipping well below 50 degrees at night, it’s prime time fire pit season. It’s a great time to get all the neighbors gathered around for an evening of chatting, drinking beverages of choice, and maybe making a s’more or two over the fire pit.
Snuggling. Hubby and I are affectionate with each other all year long, but there’s something about fall that just demands cuddle time under a blankie with a good movie playing on Netflix.
I don’t know if we’ll go apple picking this year, but there are orchards all around us and apple picking is in its prime. Of course, all the goodies that are available made from the apples are worth the trip to the orchard to purchase. One orchard not far from us has the most amazing apple bread they make and sell in the fall months.
I love fall decorating. I think so often it gets overlooked in lieu of things more Halloween-ish then we shoot straight to the winter holidays, but I simply love to decorate for fall with all the beautiful mums and squash, pumpkins and fall berries.
So, there you have it. A few of my favorite fall things. How about y’all? What are some of your favorite fall activities?
